Welcome to the 2025 - 2026 Norwell Girls Travel Basketball season. Our Board is pleased to announce that registration is now open for girls in Grades 4-8. Registration will only be open for a short period of time so please sign up now. Please read the entire message below as it contains all of the important and pertinent information that you will need.
The season starts with practices beginning in early November and games beginning in December up through the first week of March. For grades 5-8 all home games are played at the Norwell Middle School and for grade 4 all games are played at the Indian Head school in Hanson. Games will be held Saturdays & Sundays with a minimum of 1 game per weekend. There are a few weekends where there may be 2 games scheduled. Our teams practice two times a week with the schedule not being released until early November. Team practices will be held at the Norwell High School, Norwell Middle School, Vinal and Cole Schools, and potentially Starland depending on grade level. We will be playing a full season with playoffs for both the South Shore and Old Colony Leagues.
Please note that participation in the Norwell Girls Basketball Program is a commitment. There will be 2 practices and 1 to 2 games most weeks starting early November and ending early March (with breaks for the holidays and school vacations). We understand that most girls in town are involved in other sports and activities. However, it is expected that a girl in the program will do their best to make practices and games. We feel that this level of commitment is only fair to the coaches and other girls on the team.
The Norwell Girls Travel Basketball Board and our volunteer coaches are fully committed to providing the girls with a fun, safe, competitive and memorable basketball season.
· Registration Fee: For the 2025-2026 season, the registration fee is $375. Please note that the increase in the fee over prior years is primarily due to an increase in league fees and the cost of gym space. All players in grades 4-7 who are new to the program, or in need of a new uniform, can purchase a uniform directly through Stoller Sports’ website (jersey, shorts, and optional shooting shirt) https://stollersports.com/store/index.php?productCateg=304
Jersey numbers will be assigned post purchase by the league in coordination with Stoller.
This season, we are gradually moving towards adding last names to player jerseys. Any player (new or returning) purchasing a jersey can include their last name.
As in past years, 8th graders will receive complimentary new jerseys with their last name printed which will be ordered by the league. If your 8th grader is also in need of new shorts or a shooting shirt, those can be ordered by parents directly through the Stoller website.
If your player already has a uniform that fits from a previous season, there is no need to purchase a new one. If you are inheriting a jersey from a sibling or friend, please reach out to Nikki Dunigan at nadunigan@gmail.com to ensure the jersey number is available. We’d like to avoid having multiple players with the same number in the same grade (even if they’re on different teams).

· Girls Tryouts/Evaluations: All girls are required to attend evaluations to enable us to develop team rosters. Note all girls will be placed on a team (no cuts). Evaluations enable us to place girls based on their skill and competitive level. The tryout schedule is currently as follows:
Wednesday, 10/15/25 @ Norwell High School Gym
6th Grade: 6 - 7PM
7th Grade: 7 - 8PM
8th Grade: 8 - 9PM (tentative – may not be needed depending on numbers)
Monday 10/20/25 @ Norwell High School Gym
4th Grade: 6 - 7:15PM
5th Grade: 7:15 - 8:30PM
Team announcements will be sent out the following week directly from your team’s coach. Please share this email with any friends with a daughter who may be interested - especially with 4th grade girls!
